The reorganization of the Toulouse-Blagnac airport will imply several interventions in the years to come. The Hall A extension and its new jetty will be part of the new development lines to improve its image and service. This intervention, which is meant to be the most relevant in terms of impact and structure in the airport south area, will create five plane-docking stations.
The jetty is going to be built as close as possible to the runway within a rigorous geometrical frame. The boarding areas appears as space extensions welcoming the passengers punctuating a path paced by the light. Each volume is lined by a powerful brick wall, showing its identity that belongs to Toulouse, and sheltering from the sunlight, which at times can prove to be too hot. A few screen walls open up the passenger’s perspective onto the runway scene.
The functional goal of the intervention is to create the benchmarks of an architectural path through a renovated notion of space and its discovery focusing on a minimalist and flowing style. This project, meant to be functional, technical and financially viable, conveys the REC expertise skills when faced to plan airport structures.
